41 Years of Caring & Serving…Because Every Moment Counts

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to you for the care you provided my dear friend. The environment you created is a true gift to the patient, family and friends.”  EF

  • Since admitting it’s first patient in April 1985, Tidelands Community Hospice has provided care, beyond the traditional hospice role, to over 12,000 patients and families in Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg Counties.
  • Tidelands Community Hospice is the ONLY locally based and governed not-for-profit hospice provider serving Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg Counties.
  • NO one, regardless of financial status or life situation, in need of hospice is turned away.
    We are Neighbors Helping Neighbors…
  • Founded forty-one years ago by community volunteers and members of the medical profession as one of the first not-for-profit hospices in South Carolina, staff and volunteers live and work in the communities Tidelands Community Hospice serves.
  • Thus far in 2026, we have provided care to over 161 patients and families which is equivalent to 7, 692 days of care.

We fill in the “gaps” NOT covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance …

  • As our census grows, so do the needs of our patients and families along with the rising cost of meeting their needs.
  • Not ALL of our patients are eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance and therefore need our help. Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance do NOT cover daily essentials of food, shelter, utilities, clothing, certain supplies or aid in situations that go beyond daily needs.
  • Through our Bereavement Services, we provide bereavement support for ALL adult and children, not just hospice families, in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg Counties. These services are provided at no charge.

“Thank you for all the care and support we received from your team. I had no idea your organization would step in and provide not only hospice care but aid with groceries and other needs. I do not think we could have made it without your kindness, care and guidance.” DP

As we are locally based and governed …

  • Patient/family needs are immediately addressed.
  • ALL donations GO to work at once to meet the needs of those we serve and REMAIN in the community.

Being with Mom at the end of life was both heartbreaking and comforting. Your team answered our questions with kindness and patience and were always available when we needed them the  most.” PW

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
