Bereavement

Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and challenging journey, and no one should have to face it alone. At Tidelands Community Hospice, we offer compassionate grief support services to help individuals and families find comfort and healing during their time of loss. Our free programs create a safe, understanding space where participants can share their emotions, connect with others, and develop coping skills that promote well-being. Many services are available to the community, not just families who have used Tidelands Community Hospice services.
Tidelands Community Hospice offers free Bereavement Support Groups and Workshops to all adults grieving a loss. Support groups meet regularly in Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet/Garden City, and Georgetown—no registration needed. Seasonal eight-week workshops in Myrtle Beach offer grief education and group discussion, led by Bereavement Coordinator Rick Yant. Workshops require registration but are free to attend. For details or to register, contact Rick Yant at 843-546-3410.

Bereavement Support

At Tidelands Community Hospice, care doesn’t end with the death of a patient. We remain nearby to help guide individuals and families through the healing process. Our Bereavement Coordinator and volunteers are available for support for the patient’s family for 13 months. This support includes contact with the Bereavement Coordinator, written correspondence and support groups. This program provides useful information for the grieving process.

Good Mourning Program

Our Good Mourning Program is a specialized grief support service offered at no cost to children and adolescents ages 6 to 18 throughout Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg counties. The program, led by trained staff and volunteers, provides a nurturing environment for young people who are grieving the loss of a loved one, friend, or family pet, as well as those experiencing other life changes like divorce, relocation, or parental incarceration.

Good Mourning sessions are tailored to meet the needs of children and adolescents. We also collaborate with schools, churches, and community organizations to ensure support is accessible to those in need.

Celebrations of Joy & Remembrance

At Tidelands Community Hospice, we understand that honoring the memory of loved ones is an important part of the grieving process. Our Celebrations of Remembrance bring together families, friends, and our hospice community to reflect, remember, and find comfort. These events provide an opportunity for families to celebrate the lives of those they have lost, fostering a sense of connection and support. Whether through memorial services, remembrance gatherings, or other events, we are here to help families pay tribute to their loved ones and find peace in shared moments of reflection.
